Gibson Called Up to Start vs. Yankees

Top Orioles pitching prospect Trey Gibson will make his major league debut Sunday against the New York Yankees as Baltimore deals with multiple injuries in the rotation.

Baltimore is activating top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to start against the New York Yankees on Sunday, according to manager Craig Albernaz. The 23-year-old right-hander, ranked as Baltimore's No. 3 prospect, was called up from Triple-A Norfolk to join the team's taxi squad.

Gibson will face Yankees pitcher Max Fried in what will be his regular turn in the rotation after posting a 4.01 ERA in six Triple-A starts with 25 strikeouts. The move comes as the Orioles deal with injuries to Trevor Rogers, Dean Kremer, and Zach Eflin, with Baltimore currently six games out of first place in the AL East at 15-17. wlop.pl
