The San Diego Padres designated outfielder Nick Castellanos for assignment on Wednesday. The move comes one day after he received a video tribute during his return to Philadelphia, where he spent four seasons before being released by the Phillies in February. cricket-ipl.in
Castellanos struggled to find his two-time All-Star form in San Diego, hitting .191 with a .560 OPS, four home runs, and 20 RBIs. The Padres, who paid him the league minimum of around $780,000 after Philadelphia ate the remaining $20 million of his contract, also selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Samad Taylor from Triple-A El Paso.
