Sunde Left Out of Norway's Playoffs

Grainger announced the squad on Monday for the doubleheader against Romania, scheduled for October 9 (away) and October 13 (home). Despite Sunde's impressive season with 25 goals in 16 Toppserien matches, the 28-year-old has been left out of the squad. 'She is a fantastic goal scorer,' Grainger said about Sunde, adding that 'there are many competing for spots' on the national team. esporist.com

Norway finished second in their World Cup qualifying group, four points behind Germany, with only group winners advancing directly to the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. 'Our task is crystal clear: we must qualify for the World Cup in Brazil next year,' Grainger stated. Should Norway advance, they would face either Albania or Wales in a 'final' for the World Cup spot.
