‘Hopefully, Pirates can retain the league title’ – Ex-Chiefs fan-favourite
Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has backed Orlando Pirates to successfully defend their Betway Premiership title, although he expects another fiercely contested race this season. akupunkturabielsko.pl
The retired forward believes it is a positive sign for South African football to see Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs occupying the top three positions, as it reflects a stronger, more competitive league.
“Having seen Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs finish first, second, and third respectively, it’s really encouraging for us as football fanatics because it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a table look like that,” Majoro said as per IOL.
Majoro also expects teams outside the traditional “Big Three” to challenge for the top positions this season.
Ex-Chiefs and Pirates star expects tough season
He singled out AmaZulu under coach Arthur Zwane, while also highlighting Sekhukhune United, Polokwane City, and Stellenbosch FC as sides capable of making an impact.
“Not undermining other teams—we’ve seen AmaZulu under Coach Arthur [Zwane] putting their hands up to showcase that they’re not just here to add numbers,” Majoro explained.
“Sekhukhune [United] is among those; Polokwane [City] has always been a surprise package, and for the first time, we saw Stellenbosch finish outside the top eight.
“I’m sure they will want to fight their way back into the top eight and return to winning ways.”
Despite expecting strong competition across the league, the former Chiefs and Pirates striker believes the Buccaneers have what it takes to retain their crown.
“I have no doubt that the Big Three will battle it out until the end.
“Hopefully, we will see Orlando Pirates defend their trophy again this season,” he concluded.

"Mon transfert au Real Madrid est l'accomplissement d'un rêve d'enfant. Je suis d'autant plus reconnaissant envers la direction du RB Leipzig d'avoir rendu ce transfert possible malgré mon contrat en cours".
A 19 ans, Yan Diomandé deviendra la sixième recrue estivale du Real après Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté, Marc Cucurella, Bernard Silva et Carlos Espi. Dans la foulée, il fera son entrée dans le groupe de José Mourinho pour préparer la nouvelle saison.

Uruguay : Diego Forlan prend officiellement les commandes de la Celeste
Après une Coupe du monde décevante, l’Uruguay a décidé de tourner la page avec Marcelo Bielsa. La Celeste, éliminée dès la phase de groupes après avoir récolté seulement deux points, a mis fin à l’aventure de l’entraîneur argentin sur le banc.
Pour prendre sa succession, la Fédération uruguayenne a choisi une figure emblématique du football national : Diego Forlan. L’ancien attaquant de 47 ans aura la mission de relancer la sélection tout en prenant également en charge l’équipe U20, engagée lors de la Copa America de la catégorie.
Ballon d’Or du Mondial 2010 et véritable icône en Uruguay, Forlan va toutefois découvrir un nouveau défi avec une expérience limitée en tant qu’entraîneur. Jusqu’ici, il a dirigé seulement Penarol et CA Atenas, en deuxième division uruguayenne.
La fédération lui a accordé sa confiance avec un contrat provisoire qui court jusqu’aux rencontres internationales de mars 2027. Une évaluation sera alors réalisée afin de décider de la suite de son mandat à la tête de la Celeste.

Rugby player Sbu Nkosi is finally opening up about his pain and personal battle, mourning the loss of his infant twins, in an interview with Darian Ducci on the podcast Off The Pitch Rugby.
Sinking under the pressure of having to go straight onto the pitch after his children died in 2022, Nkosi chose to take care of himself as a man before taking care of the rugby player.
Without telling anyone his whereabouts, Nkosi disappeared, and most feared the worst when weeks passed with no trace.
“What actually happened?” asked Ducci.
“I had been going through a very, very tough time mentally, which had started pretty much back in Durban. I went through a period where I had lost my kids,” Nkosi responded.
“You know, I had two beautiful twins birthed, and you know, a little after birth, they both passed away, and I just had to be back on the bandwagon and playing rugby on the same weekend, so I never really got a chance to process it the way that I needed to process it,” said Nkosi.
“You know, I think it’s something that’s very hard for someone to understand until they’ve held their own cold baby in their arms, you know. It sent me on a spiral, you know, to a point where I actually became physically sick,” he explained.
“Most of it started with that moment, very, very heavy moments that I still feel with the same intensity today. It wasn’t a very good decision for the rugby player, you know, but for the person to remain alive and living, I think it’s a decision that I had to make. I’m very, very sorry. I was just in a lot of pain, and I wanted to finally find a way to fix it so that I could move on.”

Crise à la Fifa: l'UEFA maintient son boycott des Coupes du monde
La confédération européenne de football (UEFA) a annoncé jeudi 6 octobre que son boycott des compétitions de la Fifa, dont les Coupes du monde, était toujours en vigueur malgré l'abandon du plan de la Fifa de s'ouvrir à des investisseurs extérieurs. « Les fédérations membres de l'UEFA ont été très claires sur les conditions liées à leur non participation aux compétitions de la Fifa », détaille l'instance européenne dans une déclaration transmise à l'AFP. Outre le retrait du projet de la Fifa - une exigence déjà obtenue -, l'UEFA demande « que des assurances soient faites que de telles tentatives de défigurer le football de cette manière ne puissent jamais se reproduire ». « Ces conditions n'ont pas été remplies », juge l'UEFA, qui réaffirme « avoir perdu confiance dans la présidence de Gianni Infantino ».
