Welcome to Sharks Rugby Club
The Sharks have unveiled a new identity, including a new logo and icon, as part of a major rebrand. albergomalica.it
They will now be known as the Sharks Rugby Club, with the new branding marking what the organisation describes as the start of a new era ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The rebrand introduces three distinct visual identities:
- The SRC logo will serve as the club’s new corporate identity and will feature on the chest of the playing jersey.
- The Hollywoodbets Sharks logo becomes the official match logo for the senior team across all competitions and broadcast platforms.
- The new Sharks icon will be used primarily in match promotion, advertising and other key brand assets.
Junior teams will receive their own identities, with those logos to be unveiled at a later stage.
CEO Shaun Bryans said the rebrand builds on, rather than replaces, the club’s proud history.
“Our badge has evolved. Our core never will,” said Bryans.
“Innovation has always been part of who we are. In 1996, this club had the courage to redefine itself as the Sharks and helped shape the modern era of South African rugby.
“This evolution is not a departure from that tradition, it is its continuation.”

The club said the overhaul extends beyond a new logo, forming part of a broader strategy to strengthen its commercial position while continuing to invest in rugby.
“Success today depends on far more than winning matches,” said chief growth officer Michael Leslie. “The strongest clubs in world sport are also the strongest brands.
“Every new supporter we inspire, every meaningful partnership we build and every new revenue stream we create gives us greater ability to invest where it matters most – our players, our pathways, our facilities and the future of rugby in KwaZulu-Natal.”
Bryans acknowledged that the new identity would spark debate among supporters but insisted the decision was made with the club’s long-term future in mind.
“This is not change for change’s sake,” he said. “It is a deliberate statement of ambition. We have taken a long-term view of where this club needs to be – on the field, commercially and culturally.”
The rebrand will also see the return of Reebok as the club’s technical apparel partner, while supporters can expect new Currie Cup and URC jerseys, an expanded merchandise range, a revamped Shark Cage retail store and a redesigned club website in the coming weeks.
“This isn’t simply a rebrand,” Bryans said. “It is the beginning of a new era for the Sharks Rugby Club.”

Springboks, like Argentina, want less-capped players to gel
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus said aside from the obvious goals of winning, giving players game time, and reintroducing five recently-injured players, his goal for their one-off Test against Argentina is also to see his less-capped players sync with the team and the game plan.
The Springboks have left a contingent of players in South Africa to train for the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series against New Zealand, while Argentina are similarly missing several big names due to European club commitments.
While the Springboks have no uncapped players in their matchday 23, Argentina have 10 in their 34-man squad for the fixture. They are expected to announce their team on Thursday.
Getting in sync
With two caps, Cameron Hanekom is the least experienced Springbok. He’s followed by Cobus Wiese (four), Zachary Porthen (five), Edwill van der Merwe and Morné van den Berg (six each), and Ethan Hooker, Johan Grobbelaar and Boan Venter (nine each).
Then there are also Ben-Jason Dixon (10), Jan-Hendrik Wessels (12) and Elrigh Louw (14) who are also not yet regular players in the side.
“A lot of the guys are coming back from injury and some are not that settled. Nine caps and two caps and so on,” Erasmus said.
“I guess it [the game] won’t be perfect on Saturday but if we get better and we’re growing our game and building our game plan and getting more in sync, hopefully the score will go our way.”
The Bok coach said that though South Africa have won the last three Tests against Argentina, and 11 of their last 12 encounters, they expected a tough challenge.
He referred to their 32-19 away defeat to Argentina in 2018.
“We want to try and beat Argentina in Argentina, which is tough, whether people believe it or not. We’ve lost here – they gave us the biggest hiding our coaching team had here…
“So apart from players returning from injury, getting some match fitness into some guys and trying to win, the only other thing that I could wish for is that we grow our game and get a bit better in each department.”
Springboks and Argentina ‘in the same boat’
Erasmus said he understood Argentina coach Felipe Contepomi’s frustration in not having players available the likes of Joaquin Oviedo, Julian Montoya, Gonzalo Garcia, Justo Piccardo and Bautista Delguy.
“But he’s got it right a few times. He’s knocked us over, New Zealand were beaten a few years ago in Argentina. And last year in the second game we [only] won by two points.
“This weekend, Argentina have about 15 players out and we have 15 players out. We are rotating and keeping players fresh so that hopefully in the crunch matches, when it gets to the World Cup or Nations Cup play-offs or Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry, then hopefully we peak.
“I think us and Argentina are more or less in the same boat. If you don’t rotate, as Felipe and we are doing this weekend then your players will definitely burn out. I think he thinks the same as we do.”

L’organisation rappelle également que chaque association membre reste libre d’approuver, de rejeter ou de modifier le projet. En d’autres termes, Zurich tente de reprendre la maîtrise du récit.
Le problème est que cette mise au point ressemble davantage à une opération de rattrapage qu’à une démonstration de force. À aucun moment, la FIFA ne répond véritablement à la question qui alimente les inquiétudes : pourquoi un projet d’une telle ampleur a-t-il été préparé avec une telle discrétion avant de le fuiter dans une certaine presse ? Ainsi, en mettant l’accent sur les bénéfices financiers promis aux 211 associations membres, la FIFA cherche à déplacer le débat du terrain de la gouvernance vers celui du développement. Mais cette stratégie ne semble pas avoir suffi à calmer les critiques.
L’UEFA, elle, ne discute plus seulement du projet FFE. Elle déplace désormais le débat vers les méthodes de gouvernance de Gianni Infantino. Les dirigeants européens dénoncent des « stratagèmes secrets », des procédures accélérées et réclament que les responsables rendent des comptes. Il ne s’agit plus de savoir si FIFA Forward Enterprise est un bon ou un mauvais projet. Il s’agit désormais de savoir si Gianni Infantino est encore l’homme capable de diriger la FIFA.
Selon les informations publiées par le Telegraph, l’UEFA serait prête à franchir une nouvelle étape. Si Gianni Infantino refuse de quitter ses fonctions, l’organisation européenne envisagerait de demander la convocation d’un Congrès extraordinaire de la FIFA afin de soumettre au vote une motion de défiance. En retirant son projet FFE, le président de la FIFA espérait probablement désamorcer la crise. Mais ses opposants semblent considérer que le problème dépasse désormais le seul dossier FFE.
Sur le terrain de la communication, la différence de ton est frappante. La FIFA adopte une posture défensive, cherchant à expliquer, rassurer et corriger les perceptions. L’UEFA, au contraire, prend l’initiative. Elle fixe le calendrier politique, élève le niveau de confrontation et place Gianni Infantino sous pression. Autrement dit, alors que la FIFA parle encore de son projet, l’UEFA parle déjà de l’après-Infantino. Seulement, les statuts de la FIFA imposent qu’un Congrès extraordinaire soit demandé par au moins un cinquième des associations membres, puis qu’une majorité absolue vote la motion de défiance.

New era begins for Wallabies
New Wallabies coach Les Kiss has rewarded prop Aidan Ross and lock Miles Amatosero with their first Test starts for Saturday’s clash against Japan in Osaka.
The pair are the headline selections in Kiss’ first match 23, with Ross earning his fourth Test cap and Amatosero his second after making his debut against Italy.
Ross packs down alongside Reds teammate Josh Nasser, who returns from concussion, and veteran tighthead Allan Alaalatoa in an experienced front row.
Amatosero joins Josh Canham in the second row after the latter made history by becoming the first Wallabies lock to score a hat-trick of tries in Australia’s last outing.
The only other change to the starting XV sees Hunter Paisami return at inside centre, where he partners Joseph Suaalii in midfield.
Harry Wilson captains an unchanged loose trio featuring Rob Valetini and Fraser McReight, while Ryan Lonergan and Declan Meredith continue their halfback partnership for a third successive Test.
Billy Pollard, Angus Bell and Taniela Tupou provide plenty of firepower off the bench, while Charlie Cale returns to the Wallabies squad for the first time since 2024.
There could also be a debut for Isaac Henry, who has been named among the replacements and would become Wallaby No 999 if he takes the field.

“Every single player in the squad has pushed hard over the last fortnight to get us to this point, making selecting the matchday 23 a real challenge for the coaches,” said Kiss.
“The players selected now have the privilege and responsibility that comes with wearing the gold jersey and we know they’ll do everything they can to earn the support of all Australians when they take to the field in Osaka on Saturday night.”
