Liam Rosenior has revealed he held a team meeting on Monday to address Chelsea’s discipline issues which have cost the Blues a lot of points this season.

Pedro Neto’s red card against Arsenal was Chelsea’s ninth of the season in all competitions, and seventh in the league.

It was also the second time a player had been sent off in the last two games, with Wesley Fofana also seeing red against Burnley.

Liam Rosenior holds team meeting over discipline

Chelsea have thrown away a number of points this season because of picking up needless bookings and red cards.

The Blues aren’t a dirty team, but players have made a number of questionable decisions in recent weeks, with bookings for dissent another issue.

It’s not an excuses, but it’s not surprising this issue is occurring with one of the youngest squads in not just the league but in Europe.

Chelsea have been criticised for their discipline, and Rosenior has revealed he held a team meeting on Monday to address the issue.

“I’ll be very honest, we spoke [on Monday] as a group about how we can improve and what needs to happen,” he said as quoted by reporter Dom Smith.

“It needs to happen for us to be successful for the rest of the season.”

Chelsea currently sit sixth, three points behind Liverpool in fifth, although they’ve got a game in hand on the champions, and six behind Manchester United who are third and fourth respectively.

The Blues will be without Neto, Estevao and Jamie Gittens, but Marc Cucurella could return, whilst Cole Palmer and Reece James are both fit to start.
