We’re three days away from the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline. The Washington Capitals have had an up-and-down 2025-26 season to the point where they could miss the playoffs. Heading into Friday’s deadline, it appears forward Brandon Duhaime is generating trade interest.
Hockey insider Kevin Weekes broke the news about Duhaime, along with Florida Panthers forward A.J. Greer.

Duhaime, 28, is in the final year of a two-year contract worth $1.85 million per season. He will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Last year, Duhaime reached the 20-point mark for the first time in his career, finishing with 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists). However, his 2025-26 campaign has produced fewer results, with six points (4 goals, 2 assists) in 63 games.
Additionally, Duhaime has spent more time in the penalty box than scoring goals this season. The 28-year-old’s 60 penalty minutes are the second-most on the team, behind only Tom Wilson (78).
Not to mention Duhaime has spent more time away from Nic Dowd, his consistent linemate in 2024-25. However, he’s returned to playing with Dowd in several games since the Olympic break.
Duhaime is now the second Capitals player with rumored trade interest. The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reported on Tuesday about teams being interested in defenseman John Carlson.
The Capitals don’t play again until this Saturday afternoon against Boston. We’ll have to see what news breaks regarding the team before the deadline on Friday.
