Colorado trades for defenseman Nick Blankenburg

Colorado has traded for Nashville’s right‑hand defenseman Nick Blankenburg, sending a 2027 fifth‑round pick to the Predators.

Blankenburg, 27, will be the Avalanche’s seventh defenseman and a depth option for emergencies. He has 21 points (6 goals, 15 assists) in 49 games for Nashville this season.

The move comes less than 48 hours before the NHL trade deadline, as Colorado looks to shore up its defensive depth while still addressing its forward group.
