Golfer Pavan Discharged After Elevator Fall

Golfer Andrea Pavan has been discharged from the hospital one week after falling three stories down an elevator shaft in South Africa during the DP World Tour's Investec South African Open.

The 36-year-old Italian golfer, who underwent surgeries for shoulder and back injuries including several fractured vertebrae, will remain in South Africa for approximately five more weeks of rehabilitation before traveling back to the United States. Pavan described his ability to walk as "a miracle" and expressed gratitude for the support he has received, including over $81,000 raised through a GoFundMe page.

Pavan fell when he mistakenly stepped into an empty elevator shaft at his accommodation on February 25. The DP World Tour winner has made 13 starts on the PGA Tour and played in three major championships during his professional career that began in 2010.
