Luis Sacked by Flamengo After 8-0 Win

Former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis has been sacked as manager of Flamengo just hours after the club recorded an 8-0 win to reach the Campeonato Carioca final.

Flamengo announced Luis's dismissal at 00:59 local time, ending his tenure that saw him win seven titles in 100 matches since replacing Tite in September 2024. Despite the sacking, Flamengo will face Fluminense in Sunday's final after their 11-0 aggregate victory over Madureira.

Luis, 40, who won the Premier League with Chelsea in 2015, achieved success as both player and coach, leading Flamengo to Copa Libertadores glory in 2025. The club thanked him for his contributions and wished him well in his future career.
