Scherzer's daughter letter touched Blue Jays

Three-time Cy Young winner Max Scherzer shared his daughter's touching letter to the Blue Jays asking for his return after signing a one-year deal.

After recently signing a $3 million, one-year contract with the Blue Jays, Scherzer revealed the handwritten note his 8-year-old daughter Brooke wrote in December. The letter expressed disappointment that Toronto didn't win the World Series and included, 'I hope my dad is back on the team.' Scherzer and his wife didn't send the letter, joking that would be a 'bad negotiating tactic.'

Scherzer wanted to return after the Blue Jays came close to winning the World Series last season, leading in Game 7 before falling to the Dodgers. 'That was a huge reason why I wanted to come back. This team can win,' said Scherzer, who feels healthy after dealing with a thumb injury much of last year.
