Framber Valdez struck out three while throwing 30 of 43 pitches for strikes in his spring training debut for the Detroit Tigers.

Valdez faced 12 batters in three scoreless innings, allowing two singles without any walks. The two-time All-Star threw 30 of 43 pitches for strikes, including a pair of 95 m.p.h. sinkers.

Valdez signed a $115 million deal with Detroit last month to join a rotation featuring Justin Verlander and Tarik Skubal.
